The History of StraTech
In January 2007, Consonus of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Strategic Technologies, Inc. of Cary, North Carolina, joined forces to become Consonus Technologies, Inc. On April 2, 2012, the company name was officially changed to StraTech.
Established in 1996 to store, protect and manage critical business information and computer systems, Consonus was fast becoming a national leader in the design and delivery of IT business solutions. Originally headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah, Questar Corporation founded Consonus and later sold to a private equity firm Knox Lawrence International in 2005.
Strategic Technologies, Inc. was founded in 1988 as CAD Systems of the Carolinas — a computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) company focusing on service, technical expertise, and training. Growing quickly, the company recognized the changing trend in the technology industry towards client/server architecture. In 1990, leveraging our existing knowledge and experience in CAD/CAM system engineering, we branched into engineering automation, general system infrastructure design and implementation, and related areas where our customers had needs. Services grew to include document and imaging management, training and skills transfer, system support, business systems, network and systems management solutions. The company was renamed Strategic Technologies, Inc. in 1991.
