Professional Services Consultant, NetBackup Focus
Job Summary:
As a Professional Services Consultant you will work to meet the requirements of clients by providing and deploying technical architectures that deliver the highest value add on StraTech solutions. In this role you will be expected to position and deliver company marketed solution sets and other custom consulting. This position requires a dynamic, hard-working and ambitious individual, with good oral and written communication skills. Individuals will also possess strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
In this position your overall focus areas will be in supporting and developing processes and systems for quick and thorough delivery of customer solutions, provide systems configuration recommendations, and apply your background and experience to deliver solutions to technical problems.
Essential Functions:
Overall scope of this position includes planning and delivering major portions of the implementation effort. Specific responsibilities include:
- Build and maintain confidence of colleagues and customers
- Be able to conduct small to medium engagements with customers independently
- Executes a wide range of engagements including product implementations on multiple platforms, product architecture, proper deployment of advanced product features, product upgrades, product health checks, knowledge transfer, customer mentoring, and advanced troubleshooting.
- Manages client expectations during the engagement
- Identifies and resolves issues, and escalates as appropriate.
- Identifies additional sales opportunities resulting from engagement work.
- Conduct pre-packaged NetBackup consulting solutions in a timely and effective manner
- Assist in the development of standard reusable NetBackup productized consulting service offerings, including definition of tasks, deliverables and standard estimates
- Help to document best practices in developing and deploying NetBackup solutions, and feed them into our knowledge base
- Provide regular update/report to the team
- Deliver on consulting tasks (e.g., installation and configuration of 3rd party applications)
- Contribute to the improvement or enhancement of StraTech consulting best practices
- Achieve utilization goals by providing high quality and efficient delivery services
- Achieve client satisfaction goals
- Achieve individual MBOs
Job Requirements:
- 1 or more years of consulting and/or project management experience implementing storage solutions.
- Strong aptitude for learning new technologies and understanding how to utilize them in a customer facing environment.
- Ability to follow standard engineering principles and practices.
- Creative approach to problem solving.
- Broad exposure to a variety of technologies/concepts in a distributed environment.
- Excellent analytical/problem solving abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation, customer, business and negotiation skills.
- Implement NetBackup solutions on heterogeneous platforms spanning across Windows and major flavors of UNIX operation systems.
- Integrate NetBackup Client agents with database applications like Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft SQL Server, and Oracle
- Serve as subject matter expert on Backup Industry best practices, backup success rate improvements, capacity planning, and provide knowledge transfer to client teams.
- Conversant in a broad range of backup, storage, and virtualization technologies.
- Travel to the prospective customer's sites as necessary
- Up to 75% travel required.

Education and Experience:
- Fluent in English
- At least 3 years of relevant experience in which 2 years must be in customer-facing positions
- Demonstrated ability to have completed multiple, technical projects.
