Data Center Site Technician - Salt Lake City, UT

PRIMARY FUNCTION
StraTech, a provider of AllWaysOn Tier 4 Data Centers, Business Continuity and IT Managed services for clients with a critical need for 100% uptime is looking for Site Technicians at its Salt Lake City area Data Centers.
This position requires the candidate to be able to develop and maintain relationships with existing and potential StraTech clients. The Site Technician will perform building walk-through in an efficient, timely manner when needed; report and log visitors and staff of the Data Center efficiently; and verify proper identifications of all individuals. This individual will be an active participant in relevant StraTech customer and industry events. Additional job goals and duties will be assigned from time to time as part of the regular performance appraisal process.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Respond efficiently to building and infrastructure system alarms.
- Maintain physical and intellectual property of the facility.
- Respond to clients and sales personnel to resolve operational issues; i.e. Space capacity, planning, customer electrical needs etc…
- Learn and understand the electrical, HVAC, and bandwidth infrastructures of the facility.
- Learn and understand the badge-access computer system, monitoring system and video surveillance systems.
- Report on facility equipment status such as UPS, generator, electrical systems, and HVAC systems to achieve 99.999% of uptime.
- Provide backup support for the Network Operation Center.
- Perform building walk-through in an efficient, timely manner when required to do so.
Additional job goals and duties will be assigned from time to time as part of the regular performance appraisal process.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
- 3-5 years of computer operation experience.
- Associates Degree in computer-related field preferred but not required.
- 2 years computer hardware installation also preferred.
- Must have experience with desktop applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project, Visio, and Outlook.
Knowledge and Skills
- Excellent organizational and reporting skills.
- Strong presentation preparation and delivery skills.
- Ability to work well with customers, team-mates and vendors.
- Excellent interpersonal oral and written communication skills are required.
Physical Requirement
- Overtime and on-call time may be required.
- Available for night, weekend and holiday shifts.
- Must be able to lift up to 60 lbs, climb ladders & steep stair-cases, use power tools and hand tools.
